About Guadalupe River

Our work along the Guadalupe River began a couple of years ago. To date, we have completed six cleanups that have yielded nine tons of trash and other waste products. We have been fortunate enough to have organizations join our efforts to make a difference. Many thanks to the following groups:

Volunteers from Google were out on the Guadalupe River under the 87 Freeway. Thirty volunteers pulled two tons of trash out from this area. What a difference!!

Mid-Peninsula Housing and many of their partners joined forces at Virginia Street with fifty-five volunteers clearing vacant encampments along these two stretches of our Guadalupe River.

Boy Scout Troop 286 has been involved with the Guadalupe River’s "Adopt-A-Creek” program for many years. Their long-term commitment to the River showed that we have dedicated groups who are being good stewards of our watershed. Their cleanup effort at Reach 12 of our Guadalupe River, as well as the percolation pond near the west end of Chynoweth, is an inspiring example for all of us.
